Canopies
Client: Georgetown BID
Status: Completed
Temporary public art installation in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington DC. Canopies is a celebration of alleys as important public spaces. The form of a canopy connotes welcoming, inviting the passerby in to experience what the space has to offer. In this case the canopy is articulated with ribbon-like color patterns that aggregate to create multiple readings of this archetypal form. The three-dimensional layering of color and lines creates an ever-changing and dynamic visual moire effect, encouraging curiosity and movement.
